You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who hasn't heard of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. We here at The Tech Sense had the opportunity to sit down with Frank Tiemann and talk about Rolls-Royce Bespoke Programme.

What is a Rolls-Royce Bespoke Programme?

FT: The Bespoke personalisation service enables customers to create a motor car as unique as their own fingerprint, it extends from 44,000 exterior colours to an individual constellation of fiber optic elements in the starlight headliner and beyond.

What is the core of Bespoke Programme?

FT: Individuality and personalization. The limit of Bespoke is actually the imagination of the customer. According to Gavin Hartley, Head of Bespoke Design:

Distinction, leadership and genuine expression is at the heart of the Bespoke Programme. The car is regarded as a key element of one's taste and personal style, so it's only natural it's bespoke."

What does the Bespoke process look like?

FT:  When it comes to the process of design, every Bespoke journey is personal per definition. It starts at the Rolls-Royce dealership in Warsaw. Here the customer is taken in great length through the opportunities to individualize a Rolls-Royce. If necessary Rolls-Royce designers spend time at Goodwood with the client to discover the true purpose of the client's needs concerning their lifestyle. Rolls-Royce then seamlessly weaves the desired functionality with the client's personal sense of artistry.

I'm fortunate to spend a great deal of time with clients. It's an exciting proposition to work with people directly as our greatest inspiration comes from our clients' stories. The richness of heritage is just phenomenal, as is clients' approaches to innovation,"

- comments Hartley.

How was the Bespoke Programme developing in 2014?

FT: 2014 marks another record for the Bespoke programme. Every Phantom family model, and the majority of Ghosts and Wraiths, left the Home of Rolls-Royce with some element of Bespoke personalization which articulates outstanding levels of individuality, luxury and refinement.

Can you tell us a story about a particular Bespoke car?

FT: It doesn´t need to be an extroverted exterior or interior, sometimes nostalgic memories are reflected. It may be Grandfather's lively stories of horse races in his 1920s childhood, told in a 1960s autumn countryside, which will somehow find its way to today's family picnic, starting on a Bespoke silk rug, with a picnic hamper reflecting the original intention of a picnic derived from these early times.

A dramatic example of Bespoke is Phantom Serenity which was shown at the Geneva Motor Show. Showcasing the tireless efforts of the Bespoke designers and craftspeople at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood to "Take the best that exists and make it better," Serenity introduces a completely new level of individualised luxury applied to a Rolls-Royce Phantom – already considered by owners and admirers alike to be "the Best Car in the World."

Sir Henry Royce’s maxim, "When it does not exist, design it," inspired the latest generation of Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke designers to ask what wholly new approach to luxury would delight the most demanding and exacting people in the world – Rolls-Royce customers. Their answer came from Rolls-Royce’s deep understanding of the most precious, beautiful and natural materials.

Silk would prove to be the route to a new definition of luxury, one that guarantees every customer a canvas for completely unique design, every time.

The marque’s Bespoke Design team took inspiration from the opulent interiors of Rolls-Royces that have conveyed Kings and Queens, Emperors and Empresses and world leaders. Add to this, contemporary interpretations of furniture design combined with Japanese Royal robe motifs and Rolls-Royce designers have delivered a truly innovative, thoroughly modern and tranquil Rolls-Royce interior.
