Sony announced that as of March 1, 2015, PlayStation 4 sold through more than 20 million units, making it the fastest selling console in the company's history.
This achievement is even more impressive if we take into account that the previous sales update released by Sony in January 2015 placed the PlayStation 4 at 18.5 million systems sold to consumers, which means that the company managed to sell another 2 million units in the span of just two months.
Andrew House, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc, had this to say on the subject:
We are so grateful for the enormous support from PlayStation fans worldwide, and we are truly humbled that gamers around the globe have continued to select PS4 as the best place to play. We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver unique and interactive entertainment experiences powered by the network and the PS4 system’s deep social capabilities."
With high-profile titles such as Bloodborne, Persona 5, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and many others coming to the PlayStation 4, Sony has a good chance of maintaining its current momentum.
