The launch date for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is drawing nearer with each day, and Konami has been building up hype by releasing various videos for the game throught the week. This time, the company released official images showcasing the graphical differences between platforms.
Konami's official graphics comparison page reveals the exact resolution and framerate that MGSV will be running at on each platform. Here's the breakdown:
- PC – 4k, 60fps
- PlayStation 4 – 1080p, 60 fps
- Xbox One – 900p, 60fps
- PlayStation 3 – 720p, 30fps
- Xbox 360 – 720p, 30fps
It becomes immediately apparent that the PC version is the platform to go for when it comes to image quality. With 4k support, MGSV on PC will offer the sharpest image possible. The current gen versions have nothing to be ashamed of either. Both run at 60fps, however, it is worth noting that that the PS4 is the only current gen console that displays MGSV at 1080p, while the Xbox One version has to settle for 900p. While it's a shame that the Xbox One version doesn't run at 1080p, the lower image quality shouldn't be detrimental to the enjoyment of the game on Microsoft's platform.
Of course, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions can't hold a candle to either the current gen or PC versions of MGSV. Running at 720p 30fps, the last gen version of the game simply pales in comparison. However, a 720p 30fps MGSV is still better than nothing for people who have yet to make the jump to current generation consoles or PC.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set to release on September 1, 2015 on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. You can check out the comparison as well as the newest trailer and gameplay demo below.
