Today, Ubisoft unveiled Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the newest entry in the long-running series. Shifting the setting from that of the French Revolution depicted in Unity, Syndicate will have players explore London of the Industrial Revolution era.
Ubisoft not only shared details on the game, but also released a debut trailer and a gameplay walkthrough, which can be viewed below.
In Syndicate, player take control of two assassins – Jacob Frye and Evie Frye. The twins are polar opposites – Jacob is a hot-headed brawler who isn't afraid to tackle a challenge head-on, while Evie prefers a more discreet approach. Together, the twins will will take on the gangs controlling the various districts of London and build a syndicate of their own. Recruiting new members will be vital to defending Assassin controlled territories from rival gangs.
A new setting means new tools to play with. Jacob prefers to take care of matters up close and personal. As such, fights will be much more brutal with Jacob utilizing brass knuckles and a kukri knife to dispatch foes up close, and a revolver reserved for enemies at a distance. The Assassin gauntlet now includes a rope launcher, which allows players to scale tall Victorian buildings, zip-line from rooftop to rooftop or perform aerial assassinations. Syndicate also introduces horse-drawn carriages and high speed trains as new methods of transportation throughout the open world.
The ability to lead an underground gang, commandeer any vehicle on hand and use modern tools to take on an expansive and fast-paced Victorian London sets this game apart,"
- said Marc-Alexis Côté, creative director, Ubisoft.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate has been in development for more than two years and this new modern take on the living open world will please Assassin’s Creed fans and newcomers alike."
Assassin's Creed Syndicate will release worldwide on October 23 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One. The PC version will be available this fall.
