Recently launched on Kickstarter is a revolutionary camera Sphericam 2 targeted towards consumers intending to shoot 360 degree videos viewable on their VR players, PC and tablets.

It is the world’s only 360 degree video camera that shoots in 4k resolution. The camera is endorsed by John Carmack and has already raised more than $125,000 on Kickstarter.

The inventor Jeffrey Martin terms it as “The perfect 360 degree camera for Oculus Rift.” The best features of the camera include GLOBAL SHUTTER capture at 60fps, in-built WiFi and it’s compactness (just 68mm in diameter weighing less than 400g). The camera sports inbuilt Wi-Fi for live streaming and GPS as well.

The Sphericam 2 is expected to retail at $1499 but one can get a 200$ discount right now at Kickstarter. The official website states,

With Sphericam, you push a button to record totally spherical video in high resolution 4K - the exact resolution needed for ideal performance on today's VR headsets. It also looks amazing on a tablet or even in fullscreen on a desktop.

Other 360º cameras are full of compromises and are no fun to use. They either don't deliver the resolution, or require lots of difficult tricks. None of them allow completely synchronized capture of every pixel in every direction.

Sphericam has been engineered from the beginning, with every factor in mind towards creating a correct, best-in-class spherical image, without any hassle, in a reliable and easy way."
