Blackberry is thinking about the Android as the main platform for their upcoming handset. Until now the company was faithful to Blackberry 10 OS. The lack of success of the latest series of smartphones pushed them to take radical steps.
The source of the information is Reuters which refers to sources familiar with the matter. According to them Blackberry aims to change the way of doing business. Smartphone with Google’s OS might improve results and prove to the other manufacturers that Blackberry capable of designing Android Software. Safety and software are the main pillars of the company, however Canadians have the problem with convincing clients that their software works on the external platforms such as Android. Despite Reuters’s rumors Blackberry still seems to be faithful to their OS:
We don't comment on rumors and speculation, but we remain committed to the BlackBerry 10 operating system, which provides security and productivity benefits that are unmatched."
The move might be surprising but in the past Blackberry has tried to implement Android. Undoubtedly, flirting with Google might boost the popularity of Blackberry’s smartphones. At the moment, the rumor remains unconfirmed by both Google and Blackberry.
