Berlin, 28 August 2015-IFA TecWatch presents the technologies for the markets of tomorrow.
Be they solutions for the world of smart media, future-proof energy concepts, ease of operation in the connected home, data security and security in the home, apps and wearables that promote fitness and health, 3D printer products or ideas for sustainable transport – at IFA TecWatch research institutions, industry organisations and recently founded startups will be presenting forward-looking innovations under one roof.
Events, press conferences, lectures, panel discussions and presentations by startups will accompany the show on all six days of the event. Below are some of the highlights that visitors to TecWatch cannot afford to miss.
Friday, 4 September, 12 noon to 1.15 p.m., TecWatch Forum
Startups in Israel – with the Israeli ambassador Yakov Hadas-Handelsman
Startups in Israel are among the world’s most fascinating hotbeds of innovation. Startups from Israel will also be exhibiting at TecWatch, and they will be inviting visitors to the Forum in the TecWatch Hall for two discussion rounds, about successful German-Israeli cooperation and transport concepts of the future. The Israeli ambassador Yakov Hadas-Handelsman will open the event with a welcome address.

mobilsicher.de: better smartphone and tablet security – with Federal Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection Heiko Maas
On 7 September at the TecWatch Forum the federal minister Heiko Maas will launch the online portal mobilsicher.de. This will be followed by a discussion about security issues regarding mobile communications. The new portal will provide answers to consumers’ questions about security when communicating with smartphones and tablets. The portal provides explanations, a step-by-step guide, as well as videos and screencasts to help ensure a secure data exchange.

Open Roberta – reprogramming digital learning with robots, with Dr. Wieland Holfelder, head of Development, Google Germany
The aim of the Roberta initiative is to motivate girls in particular, but also boys, to acquire a lasting interest in mathematics, computer sciences, technology and natural sciences. In promoting this long-term interest Roberta aims to offer both knowledge and a positive experience, to which robots are key. Specially developed, gender-specific course material provides the basis for a teaching method that takes the different approaches of girls and boys towards these subjects into account.
Monday, 7 September, all-day event, combined stand of VDE, ZVEH and ZVEI
Girls’ Day organised by VDE, ZVEH and ZVEI – with Dilek Kolat, Berlin’s senator for Labour, Integration and Women’s Affairs
Are electronics and information technology an all-male domain? Not at all. The IFA Girls‘ Day organised by VDE, ZVEH and ZVEI will be showing what makes this sector fascinating for women. Career starters, experienced workers and executives representing industry and the trades will be giving their accounts of daily experiences, explaining why they chose their particular job and answering questions from the audience. They will also have tips on how to start up in a career as well as on opportunities in the electro-industry and related trades. At 12.30 p.m. Dilek Kolat, Berlin’s senator for Labour, Integration and Families, will hold a keynote speech and afterwards will take part in discussions.
Wednesday, 9 September, from 11 a.m., TecWatch Forum
Automotive Startup Day - Robotics - Connected Cars
On the last of the five Startup Days the organisation Deutscher Start-up Verband will take a look at the concepts for transportation in the future. Events will feature a keynote speech, panel discussion and two pitches by five startups respectively, who will present their technology and business concepts.
Stand of VDE, open on all days of the show
The compatible and secure smart home – easy connectivity, secure data
VDE will be focusing the spotlight on the smart home – including with initiatives aiming to ensure trouble-free interaction between all networked devices and components. On each day of the show, under the heading of “plugfest“, VDE will be demonstrating how leading manufacturers’ products can communicate successfully with one another. The companies taking part are BSH (washing machine), Miele (cooker/washing machine), Devolo (home system), Diehl (home system), SMA (energy manager) and EEBus. Other topics included data protection and security. VDE will be giving practical demonstrations of attack scenarios and how to protect oneself against them.
