Techland has released the reveal trailer for Dying Light: The Following, a massive story-based expansion for the game.
In The Following, players will be able to explore a massive new area that's the size of the original maps from Dying Light combined. Once again stepping into the shoes of Kyle Crane, players will travel to a hazardous outback ruled by a mysterious cult with ties to the zombie outbreak.
In order to unravel the secret of the cult, Kyle Crane will first have to gain the trust of its members. Techland promises that players will have the freedom to choose the path they take to infiltrate the inner circle of cultists, through various missions and tasks. Additionally, to help players traverse the massive Harran countryside, The Following will introduce fully customizable and upgradable dirt buggies. With a unique skill tree of their own, dirt buggies are described as the “deadliest weapon yet.”
Dying Light producer Tymon Smektała shared his views on the expansion:
Gamescom 2015 was our first chance to let people play Dying Light: The Following so I was a bit nervous – he admits. But so many positive reactions really showed me we made the right decision to work on this expansion. With its new map and far-reaching gameplay additions, it feels like we’ve hit the sweet spot for what players are expecting from us.”
Techland has revealed that Dying Light: The Following will be priced at $14.99, while all Season Pass holders will receive access to the expansion for free. A release date for the expansion will be revealed at a later date.
